Welcome to Carnets. By using our website and services, you agree to the following terms and conditions.

1. Service Description

Carnets provides tools to convert data exports from social media platforms (primarily Instagram) into personal, hosted travel journals ("Carnets").

2. Accounts and Data

  • Eligibility: You must be at least 15 years old (or the legal age of digital consent in your country) to use this service.
  • Ownership: You retain full ownership and copyright of all content you upload. By uploading content, you grant Carnets a limited, non-exclusive license to host, store, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you.
  • Responsibility: You are responsible for the content you upload and share. You must not upload content that violates any laws or third-party rights.

3. Payment and Refunds

Carnets operates on a "try-before-you-buy" model. You can generate and preview your full journal for free. Payment is required to unlock full sharing features or download your journal as a PDF.

  • Pricing: All prices are displayed clearly before checkout.
  • Refunds: We offer a standard 14-day refund window. If you are not satisfied with your Carnet within 14 days of purchase, please contact us at hello@carnets.app for a full refund. Note that upon refund, your access to premium features for that Carnet will be revoked.

4. Intellectual Property

The Carnets name, logo, editorial designs, and technical infrastructure are the property of Couronne de Charlemagne Conseil SAS. You may not copy or reproduce our design system or source code without explicit permission.

5. Limitation of Liability

Carnets is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Carnets and its operator shall not be held liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including but not limited to loss of data, loss of content, loss of revenue, or loss of use — arising out of or in connection with the use or inability to use the service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

6. Third-Party Services and Data Loss

Carnets relies on third-party infrastructure providers to host, store, and process your data — including but not limited to cloud hosting, database, storage, and payment providers. A full list of sub-processors and their roles is available in our Data Processing Policy.

While we select our providers with care, Carnets has no control over, and accepts no responsibility for, any data loss, corruption, unavailability, or service disruption caused by the failure, negligence, or policy changes of these third-party providers. This includes, without limitation:

  • Unplanned outages or data loss at our hosting or database provider;
  • Changes to third-party terms of service, APIs, or data retention policies;
  • Security breaches or incidents originating at a third-party provider;
  • Discontinuation or degradation of any third-party service we depend on.

You acknowledge that no digital service can guarantee absolute data durability. We strongly recommend that you download a local copy of your journal (PDF) as soon as it is available. Downloaded files exist independently of Carnets and its infrastructure — if our service or any of our providers were to become unavailable, your downloaded journal would remain intact.

In no event shall Carnets' total aggregate liability to you exceed the amount you have actually paid for the service in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

7. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of France. Any disputes shall be settled in the competent courts of Marseille, France.

8. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
